You never know how much time you have left with them. A buddy of mine got into an accident this morning. He’s fine, his Golf R not so much.

Kinja'd!!!

Poor guy was just talking about how he doesn’t think he’ll ever get rid of the car and was thinking about getting a second car for winter duties. He also just did brakes, lowering springs, downpipe, stage 2+ tune, clutch, plus a few other things before heading down to Wookies in the Woods a few weeks ago.

Stuff like this ruins me. I just bought a basically new truck a couple nights ago, and I’m still half scared to drive it around people.

Lexus IS? Driver couldn’t see out. Or she was busy Instagramming a photo of her new teacup poodle so her entire sorority could see it before she got back to the dorm. Don’t worry, I’m an IIHS profiler with a 98% accuracy record.

For some reason I first read that as cats and was wondering what was wrong with your cats that they give you tetanus.

No offense, it sucks. I’m glad he’s OK. But they are making more of these. He can get another one. It’s not like he was driving a 1938 Buick or 1970 Challenger TA

Indeed. I drove it two years ago before the upgrades and we had planned on having a “ musical cars ” day where we along with a few others drive each other ’ s cars next month.

I always give my car a pat on the roof when I get out. I have a 100% record of getting rear ended in the previous cars I have owned (no real damage thankfully) and I am always paranoid that someone is just going to clobber me. I didn’t really care about my previous 2 cars but I would be deeply saddened if anything were to happen to my Mini.

In my area, that would only be the case if her RX330 was in the shop. The IS is almost always the dealer courtesy vehicle :D

For sure. It sucks more for the emotional side of things than it does the material side. It was a car he loved, spent countless hours on getting it to where he wanted it to be, and two trips to the Dragon to take part in Wookies in the Woods.

And financially since he won’t get a lot of the money in upgrades back. I know that’s the risk you take when you put the money in, but the expectation is that you’ll at least get to enjoy the upgrades for some time.

I love my Mazda5 6MT, and if anything happened to it it probably just move to Canada since I can’t buy a suitable replacement here in the USA. OK, maybe I’d just get a Mazda3, but I like my sliding doors...

Yeah that’s the feeling here as well. It’ll be interesting to hear what he’ll want to do for a replacement. I could see him getting another Mk6 R and trying to salvage what he can from this one.

While that’s true, you still form an emotional bond with the one that’s *your* car.

Sucks. Got caught in really bad traffic yesterday because of a wreck. Only saw 2 of the vehicles involved but there were at least 3. SUV (Ford Edge maybe) front end completely flat to the windshield. Rear of a black sedan (possibly an Altima but not enough time or car left to tell) was in the passenger compartment and front completely crushed. Not sure what it hit because that’s all I could see. My guess is SUV driver was going full speed (55 mph zone) and other cars stopped or were stopped for the redlight. Not sure if everyone lived.

Moral of the story: could’ve been worse and glad your friend is ok

He was on a road without a stop sign and another car ran a stop sign perpendicular to him. The car ran it and took a wide right turn into the side of him.

Wow....has anyone alerted Lexus of this? Could be worth a fortune if they interrogate him for marketing purposes. (joking aside, I’m really really sad to see an R taken off the streets, even temporarily. My dad drives a bone-stock 2004 R32 and I absolutely love them. A current R would be my “forever car” if not for my 2 growing kids and all their stuff)
